These Brazilian men can sing the blues! The Igor Prado Band has a wonderfully tight, crisp arrangement that sounds as though it was forged from years in the clubs of Chicago. The hook? they’re all Brazilian blues men!
Every instrument, with Lywood Slim on vocals, contributes a pivotal part in the fat sound that bursts through the CD. Their thirteen track sound listing is solid from beginning to end; borrowing some rather unique and carefully selected blues songs by Junior Wells, Jimmy Nelson, and Little Walter, et al., as well as splashing in some wonderful original blues numbers. The very skilled saxophone and flute really lend a strong hand in giving the album that “Chicago” feel. If you’re a fan of the brass heavy and traditional Chicago style of blues, this album is well worth checking out.
