(SPRINGFIELD, MO) – Organizers of the 2nd Annual Stomp the Blues out of Homelessness Festival, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, announced the exciting lineup and date for the second incantation of the budding blues festival. Stomp the Blues will be held Saturday, May 12th, 2012 to raise money and awareness for the area homeless and near-homeless.
“This issue grows in our community each day,” says festival coordinator and promoter Jim Payne, “and we are striving to make a small difference by giving direct help to those in need through local service agencies. We estimate that we have seen an increase of an additional 25% in homeless fed at kitches and, as a result, food costs in this past year.”
Corey Stevens has signed on as one of this year’s headliners. Stevens, a contemporary blues player, is known for his songs such as “Blue Drops Of Rain”, “The Brothers” and “The Road To Zen”. His latest CD is Dreaming Man.
The special guest this year is Miss Cassie Taylor and the Soul Cavalry, a young and exciting blues legacy. The daughter of Otis Taylor, Cassie has been playing regularly with the Girls With Guitars Tour in 2011, and has been touring with her own band as of late. She played in her father’s band for a number of years.
Other festival attractions include Steve Smith and the Sneakers, Earl Cate with Earl & Them, and The Mojo Roots.
Tickets are only $30.00 for two adults or $18.00 for one. The event, with proceeds benefiting the homeless, will be held Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at 1315 E. Trafficway in Springfield, Mo.
