The Pacific Northwest is a great place for music lovers and the Blues in particular. The scenes outside can be glorious! But then again not. And when the climate turns sour on occasion, we can forgo all that for the sights and sounds of Rhythm & Blues indoors.
All up and down the I-5 corridor, Everett, Seattle, Tacoma, Portland, and well into Oregon, and then east through Walla Walla to Spokane there are no less than six Blues Societies promoting a growing and vibrant list of bands & artists, many of whom are award-winning and serious contenders when the IBC in Memphis rolls around each year. A case in point, Kevin Sutton & The Wired Band, who took home the top prize for Best Band in 2012. In the Pacific Northwest, great Blues is bursting at the seams.
Having said all that, this is warning to the mid-west. Be on the lookout! Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa & Colorado, because there is a must see and hear voice coming to a town near you. When Etta James wonders from Heaven just who it is that is still singing her songs to a live audience, she can take pride and comfort knowing that Lisa Mann has that covered, in spades. When reviewing Lisa Mann’s originals, one can appreciate living in an age of walk-around music, with the iPhone & Bluetooth, because Lisa Mann has carved her spot on many a top ten playlist.
On May 24th Lisa Mann & Her Really Good Band (that is the name of it) will be embarking on a multi-state 9 stop tour through Montana and into the mid-west states, with the final stop in Boulder, Colorado.
With Jeff Knudson on guitar, Brian Harris on keys, Dave Melyan on drums, and Lisa herself on the bass, you will be treated to some of the very best the Northwest has to offer. Another good thing about good music is that it’s safe to indulge, so live your life without regrets and get out there to see and support Lisa Mann and Her Really Good Band.

Here is a clip of Lisa when she came through Seattle with Sonny Hess’s Northwest Women’s Rhythm & Blues review. It’s one of her originals called “Little Sister.” The word is that it’s based on a conversation that “almost happened.” instead of answering a question outright, Lisa wrote this song.
