The Wood Brothers recently rolled into Philadelphia to play the Union Transfer, the former luggage transfer station next to the Reading Railroad. Supporting their recent release, Heart is the Hero, the band — consisting of brothers Oliver Wood (acoustic and electric guitars) and Chris Wood (upright bass), along with multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix — played a two hour set that never left the tracks.
As we detailed in our photo gallery and review from their show earlier this year in Chicago, which you can find here, The Wood Brothers are so much more than an American roots band. Whether it is country, blues, folk, soul, funk or rock, they can do it all. The show in Philadelphia was no different as they kept the packed house energized and engaged on a trip across their expansive catalog.
