“Love Bomb” is the second single from award-winning, New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Lynn Drury. Her upcoming 10th album, High Tide, is being released April 5 in anticipation of performances at The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Fest and the French Quarter Fest. Papa Mali produced and played lead guitar on the new album with Doug Belote on drums, and Rene Coman (Iguanas, Alex Chilton) on bass.
The album offers the listener a soul-baring journey sparked with the grit of her country roots, the heart of her New Orleans city blues, and the honesty of her American folk spirit.
“Everybody says I dodged a bullet, but it feels more like I took the hit / I guess it was always the easy target / Hanging on after the love bomb.” In her own distinct Nola-mericana style, Drury takes stock of a bittersweet relationship that might feel warm and inviting but leaves one out in the cold. They might play all your favorite songs but when they’re driving the wrong way down a one-way street, it’s time to get out of the car and make your own song and dream your own dream.
