Nashville’s scene is such a rich landscape for storytelling and emotional expression, and soul-blues belter Lauren Anderson’s willingness to take risks while being intentional with her song choices is a powerful combination. This thoughtful approach to artistry leads to a more authentic and impactful sound, deepening the connection with her listeners.
Anderson reflects on her artistic evolution: “My first album had almost every song I had written in the past decade. Now I only pick the songs that I think people can relate to and go well together on an album. I’ve also become more fascinated with studying what pulls people into a song.”
Her educational background includes classical training and experience in music therapy, which provides her with a distinctive viewpoint on songwriting and performance. She states, “I think my background in therapy comes through during shows a lot as well as in my songwriting. I love creating music that helps people work through things and connect to each other.”
Premiering exclusively on American Blues Scene today is Lauren’s new single, “Boom, Boom, Boom,” co-written with Laureen Flynn Smith and co-produced with Evan Coffman from Demolition Music. Lauren recorded all of the guitar, including the slide guitar parts. “Gasoline and flowers hits your olfactory / That’s when you knew that I was close.” The song exists at the intersection of vintage charm and sexy rock and roll, evoking nostalgia and warmth with an edge that adds a bold, rebellious spirit.
Of the song, Lauren tells us:
