Will Wilde’s new high-energy track puts a bold, contemporary spin on the traditional spiritual song “Trouble of The World,” reimagining it with Wilde’s signature harmonica playing, an electrifying guitar groove and infectious rhythm.
“Trouble Of That Girl” is the third single from his upcoming album Blues is Still Alive, set for release on February 28, 2025, via VizzTone.
Will explains, “I wanted to take a traditional gospel song and give it a fresh perspective, like Willie Dixon did with ‘My Babe’ or Ray Charles did with ‘I’ve Got a Woman,’ changing the lyrics to make it about a girl instead of God. It’s really simple but catchy. Lyrically it’s about making the decision to leave a toxic relationship and move on to better things.”
From the very first note, the harmonica grabs you with a sharp, punchy hook that feels both classic and contemporary, escalating into a fiery solo that showcases Wilde’s virtuosic chops. “Trouble of That Girl” effortlessly fuses blues and gospel influences with a cutting-edge flair, drawing comparisons to artists like Gary Clark Jr. and Samantha Fish.
Will teamed up with blues guitar legend Walter Trout for the album’s title track “Blues Is Still Alive,” which landed in Classic Rock’s TRACKS OF THE WEEK and SiriusXM Bluesville’s countdown of top blues tunes.
With “Trouble of That Girl,” Wilde is poised to solidify his reputation as one of the most innovative voices in modern blues.
