“Red Hot Women in Blues” was conceived for a 2024 performance in Chicago’s iconic Harris Theatre for Music and Dance, a celebration presented by Delmark Records that spotlighted the contributions of women to the blues genre. The track, a high-energy anthem full of grit and soul, was recorded at Delmark’s Riverside Studio, bringing together an all-star lineup of musicians who are staples of the label’s roster.
The song features Youngblood’s powerhouse vocals and drumming, with her fierce delivery backed by the iconic Joanna Connor on lead guitar, Roosevelt Purifoy on keyboards, Sherri Weathersby on bass, and Pooky Styx on drums. It’s a track that demands attention, filled with swagger, attitude, and the deep-rooted blues that Chicago is known for.
