Clarksdale, MS – Clarksdale is the site of many winning events when it comes to experiencing great music, especially blues. Juke joints may be on the decline, but this city serves up blues in some of the best joints, clubs, and “dives” in the nation. Clarksdale is also steeped in the history of the blues and the myths and legends surrounding the lives of masters such as Robert Johnson, Son House, Eddie Boyd, Willie Brown, Sam Cooke, John Lee Hooker, and countless others. These days visitors come to rediscover those lost days of music history, and witness new history being made in places such as the Ground Zero Club.
Knowing all of this awaits in Clarksdale, what better place to hold a film festival? The 6th annual Clarksdale Film Festival begins today,and continues through this Saturday, January 30th. The festivals features films documentary shorts, cultural and regional favorites, as well as historical and indie films that pay celebrate the heritage of the region.
When visitors are not enjoying one of the incredible number of films to be seen, they can experience tours of the city and surrounding area attractions, or take their time making their way through one of several local museums. Of course, everyone can delight in the local cuisine, and lose themselves in the abundant local and national musical acts all around them.
