It’s Howlin’ Wolf meets Hound Dog Taylor. With a down-home vibe, Ride The One grabs the listener like a good book that can’t be put down! Joining Reddick on his new album are Colin Cripps, producer and guitarist, and Greg Cockerill, also on guitar. Anna Ruddick thumps the bass while Derek Downham plays drums.
For the past two decades master singer-songwriter Paul Reddick has been winning over fans with his raw, powerful vocals, and harp playing skills equal to Howlin’ Wolf himself. From the moment we press play, we are taken on an unforgettable trip through harmonica blues at its finest.
The first track on the album, “Shadows,” sets the stage for the rest of the album showcasing Reddick’s breath taking skills on the harp. Even the great Sonny Boy Williamson II would have taken notice! It’s a dark, heart pounding song that will have the listener holding on to the edge of their seat!
“Celebrate” takes it up a notch with a more upbeat tempo “Shadows” had. It’s in your face attitude will keep the listener’s grooving along to the smoky pulsating beat. “Mourning Dove” is a tune that is destined to become a classic! It is both haunting and beautiful at the same time, grabbing listeners, and leaving a chilling memory etched in their soul.
“Diamonds” is another example of Reddick’s songwriting talent. It has a more mellow flavor, with a rhythm section that will rock the fans to the core. “Living In Another World” kicks off with a harp riff that will hypnotize and mesmerize fans, new and old alike.
With its classic rock feel, “Watersmooth” has more of an upbeat tempo than some of the other tracks. It’s catchy guitar riffs will put this on any road trip playlist for sure! With a softer, velvety feel, “Love and Never Know” captures Reddick’s distinct voice. This song is a definite mood changer that will have folks turning the lights down low, tapping their feet along to Derek Downham’s pulsating drumming.
