Jack White’s Third Man Records will reissue classics from the Chess Records catalog beginning with three Muddy Waters 7″s.
An announcement posted on September 15th at Third Man Records website reads, “Third Man Records is proud to introduce our partnership with Universal Music Group in an effort to highlight the depth and importance of the Chess Records catalog. In what is now our third ongoing, label-based series of 7″ reissues, along with our Sun Records and Tamla Records series, today we release three singles that are the pinnacle of Muddy Waters‘ recorded output.”
Batch #1 will include:
“ROLLIN’ STONE” B/W “WALKIN’ BLUES,”
“SHE’S ALL RIGHT” B/W “SAD, SAD DAY” &
“MANNISH BOY” B/W “YOUNG FASHIONED WAYS”
These classic singles reissues are available now and can be can be purchased at Third Man Records separately or as a bundle.
Later this year a reissue of the Muddy Waters classic album Electric Mud will be available. It will also be available as a limited edition on “Chess-nut” Brown vinyl at Third Man Records and at at Reckless Records in Chicago, while supplies last. So far, no release date has been set.
