Maggie Rose and Devon Allman have collaborated on a cover of “These Days,” the Jackson Browne-penned song which later became a radio hit for Gregg Allman from the album Laid Back. The pair did their rendition as a tribute to the late Gregg, celebrating what would have been his 75th birthday coming up in December.
Recorded live in one take in Nashville, former Allman Brothers Band member Chuck Leavell contributed by reprising his Rhodes solo from Gregg’s version. Maggie plays a Johnny Cash model Martin acoustic guitar that Gregg left for Devon, who plays his dad’s 1966 Fender XII electric 12-string guitar and Gibson J200 tobacco burst acoustic guitar. Judd Fuller recorded his bass part with Gregg’s old 1966 Fender Jazz.
Devon and Maggie will commence this year’s Allman Family Revival tour on November 26, with 18 stops through December 17.
