The Wood Brothers are currently touring in support of their eighth studio album, Heart is the Hero. As we documented in an earlier review, the band has been partnering with the American Friends of Canadian Conservation on the current tour so that $1 per ticket will support the Nature Trust of British Columbia in that organization’s efforts to conserve ecologically-rich wetlands and protect irreplaceable land from development. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is matching each $1 donated with an additional $2 so more endangered wetlands can be saved.
The band’s philanthropy does not end there, however, as they recently announced two additional concerts in Chicago on November 17 and 18 to benefit Beyond Hunger, a non-profit organization that provides hunger relief and essential programming to residents of 13 zip codes in and around Chicago.
The first show will be held at Thalia Hall, a landmark venue in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. The next night, the band will head to Fitzgerald’s, a smaller and more intimate venue in Berwyn, Illinois. It’s a can’t miss opportunity to support a great band and a great cause.
