NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Several mid-state school systems have either closed or will close early Friday due to severe weather forecasted for the area.
Hardin and Stewart are closed, Houston and Humphreys Counties will close at 11 a.m. Lawrence County will close at 11:15 a.m.
Clay, DeKalb, Dickson, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Pickett, and Smith counties will all close at noon. Grundy, Marshall, Putnam, Warren and White counties will close at 12:30 p.m. Cannon County will close at 1 p.m.
Bedford, Giles, and Wilson Counties will close three hours early. Rutherford County will close two hours early.
Williamson County Schools will also close early. Middle and high schools will close at 11:15 a.m. Elementary schools and Hillsboro School will close at 12:15 p.m.
Overton County was already closed on Friday due to illness. Van Buren was also closed on Friday.
Parts of Middle Tennessee and Kentucky are under a high risk for severe weather starting on Friday afternoon. It is possible that Middle Tennessee may see several waves of storms with this system. The most violent storms are most likely be from noon to 8 p.m.
