The VizzTone label group is excited to announce the worldwide release of Blues Power, the brand-new studio album from Big Al and the Heavyweights, available now on CD and all digital platforms. This marks the band’s second release with VizzTone and their eighth overall.
Straight out of South Louisiana, the Heavyweights blend deep-rooted blues with spicy funk, swaying bayou soul, and irresistible zydeco rhythms, capturing the vibrant cultural soul of their home region. Known for their electrifying live shows and loyal following, the band has become a beloved force on the road. With a history that includes numerous band members and celebrated guest appearances, they’ve persevered through both triumphs and tragedies. After the heartbreaking loss of longtime keyboardist and vocalist Wayne Lohr, the band has reformed with its original lineup: harmonica, bass, drums, and guitar. The current iteration features drummer and bandleader Big Al Lauro, guitarist and lead vocalist Marcel Anton, along with new members Dangerous Dale Robinson (harmonica) and Dennis “the Menace” Cedeno (bass).
Fueled by the fresh energy of its newest members, Blues Power highlights the talents of guitarist and vocalist Marcel Anton. A true renaissance artist, Anton is a gifted composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, poet, teacher, actor, and mystic with deep roots in Native American and New Orleans Creole heritage.
If you haven’t heard it yet, check out the album’s first single, “If.” Anton’s voice, drenched in bayou soul, tells a story of love lost with haunting depth. His commanding baritone gives way to a poignant falsetto that echoes Louisiana’s blues legends. As the intensity builds, Anton’s voice cuts through the tension in the final chorus: “If you’re gonna let me down, don’t make it easy.”
