About the Taste of St. Louis
The Charter Taste of St. Louis is an award-winning celebration of the best food, art, music and culture our great city has to offer. St. Louis Post Dispatch readers voted it the “Best Family Festival” in the region, and our turnout of more than 350,000 patrons last year proves it. The event has also been recognized as one of the “Best Food Festivals” in AAA Midwest Traveler’s Best of the Midwest 2010, voted the “Best Festival” by Metromix.com, earned a Readers’ Choice “Best Food Event” award from St. Louis Magazine and named “Best Culinary Festival” in Alive Magazine’s Top 100 Hot List.
This year’s event will take place at Soldiers’ Memorial (12th & Market – Downtown St. Louis) on September 28, 29 and 30 and will feature celebrity chef appearances on the Bunge Culinary Stage, more than 45 restaurants on Restaurant Row, the Chef Battle Royale Culinary competition presented by Stella Artois, national concerts on the Charter Center Stage, the Art & Wine Walk, the interactive Marketplace, and the all-new Kid City.
New this year, the Taste will introduce the Grand Tasting Event – an upscale, private sampling experience with delectable tastings from the area’s best establishments, wine, beer and premium cocktail samplings, celebrity appearances and live music.
In 2009, the Taste introduced EGS – an Event Greening & Sustainability program – which has resulted in a 50% diversion each year in landfill waste (among other impressive achievements).

About Taj Mahal
Composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Taj Mahal is one of the most prominent and influential figures in late 20th century blues and roots music. Though his career began more than four decades ago with American blues, he has broadened his artistic scope over the years to include music representing virtually every corner of the world – west Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe, the Hawaiian islands and so much more. What ties it all together is his insatiable interest in musical discovery. Over the years, his passion and curiosity have led him around the world, and the resulting global perspective is reflected in his music.
His appearance at the Taste of St. Louis is in support of his latest release, Hidden Treasures of Taj Mahal 1969-1973. Featuring twelve previously unreleased studio tracks and an entire full-length live concert performance from Taj Mahal’s April 18, 1970 show at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the new two-disc set is the next component to the ultimate Taj Mahal fan collection.
