We woke up this morning in Spokane Valley, Washington and all but one of our guitars had been stolen. Pinky, my main Fender Stratocaster was stolen along with my 1965 Gibson SG Junior. In a story we reported earlier, the wonderful music of Mali had been silenced by radical Islamists who had initiated barbaric rules and laws over this land and in the process left them in silence. They have spent the last 10 months trying to remember what music sounds like. Can you imagine even a day without music, much less 10 months? Music has always been such huge part of the Malian culture and their sounds have inspired fellow musicians worldwide.
The 29th International Blues Competition semi-finalists have been announced by the Blues Foundation. So far the competition has been fierce, with incredible performances by so many of the brightest blues blues artists from all over the world.
