“Hot Mess” by The Pam Taylor Band, is pretty well rounded … The band offers up their version of “I’d Rather Go Blind,” and we were moved by its smokey, sultry, and seductive delivery. Another delicious cut is “I Ain’t The One,” with its rhythm guitar driven funkin’ blues lines – savory indeed!
“Too Far Gone” by The Betty Fox Band showcases her talents and the stellar band as well. This album is chock full of pleasant surprises! From start to finish, it is a delicious mix of blues and soul.
“I talk to people. I take interest in people. (I) find out what they’re doing, what they’re about, What they do; just, everything. That’s always been my way.”
The 13 songs here clock in at 59 minutes and when the album is over, we are left wanting more. Bibb uses a whole host of musicians throughout the album, and the playing is consistently superb.
It is really difficult to accurately describe this stunning album, and faithfully convey the vibe, the atmosphere, and way it moves a listener. Welch has poured a lifetime of learning, living, loving, playing, and praying into this work, and it shows!
