Nominees, presenters, and performing artists gather to recognize the year’s best. 135 nominees in 26 categories share one thing – their love of blues music.

This year, there will be 13 illustrious honorees, representing all five of the Hall of Fame’s categories.

At IBC there are always opportunities for growth with an abundance of workshops. This year, musicians can learn with Bob Margolin, Bob Corritore, Doug MacLeod, and more!

This year, two additional award categories were added, bringing the total to 26. The two new categories are Instrumentalist – Vocals, and Rock Blues Artist.

Here are your winners for the 38th Blues Music Awards.

Members of the Bland family, including his widow, Willie Mae, son Robb Bland, and daughter Patrice Moses, will be on hand for the unveiling.

Ranking among the IBC’s marquee offerings is the Keynote Panel “Blues as Healer” on February 3. The panel will look at the restorative power that music, especially blues music, can hold.

Historic Beale Street will be the site for each of the challenge rounds, opening with the International Showcase on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017.

American Blues Scene will be covering the event, as we do every year, and will be bringing you up-to-the-minute happenings, including band standings and various workshops on blues every day.

Not only is Mill Block Blues generating thousands of dollars for the Handy Artist Relief Trust to help blues musicians in need, it is an excellent album with an all-star Texas cast. Fun to listen to and expertly made, it’s got the magic!
