73 years ago today, Robert Johnson is said to have passed in Greenwood, Mississippi. While nearly nothing is known about the legend as a man, the music he left was some of the most influential in history.

Many blues fans are familiar with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences’ decision this year to remove several categories, including one of only two blues Grammy categories.

Situated in historic downtown Woonsocket, Rhode Island is Chan’s Eggrolls, Jazz and Blues, a Keeping The Blues Alive Award Recipient and one of the most inconspicuous & unique blues clubs in America.

The Blues Foundation is presenting the 32nd Blues Music Awards tomorrow, May 5, 2011, at the Cook Convention Center in Memphis, TN.
