Blues Hall of Fame inductions, free medical screenings, meet-and-greets with art shows, fundraisers, and of course the Blues Music Awards themselves make for an event filled week!

The IBC welcomes artists from around the world to perform on the night before The Challenge officially begins.

The International Blues Challenge (IBC) officially opens at the Clayborn Temple, a key site in the civil rights struggle of the 1960s where Dr. Martin Luther King spoke.

It’s also the time when musicians representing blues societies from around the world come to compete in the International Blues Challenge.

I think part of it is that blues is this great big tent, and there’s all kinds of blues, and I love all of it.

The landmark 30th annual International Blues Challenge is taking place in Memphis, Tennessee “the home of the blues”, and American Blues Scene will be continuing it’s annual coverage of the week’s events in their entirety.
